Review: Buncton Manor

tipi at BunctonBuncton Manor is a working farm near the beautiful village of Steyning. It is a small field with limited space so it is best to give them a call in advance to check that they have room. You can camp here in any kind of shape or form, caravan, campervan or tent and due to the fact that it is quite small it is very friendly so it is not unusual for all the children staying there to end up all playing together! There are horses that you can go and see and ducks just wondering around and just next to the camping field is a horse dressage area so sometimes people are riding in there. Another real bonus is that there are fire pits so you can have a real fire to toast your marshmallows on!

candles at BunctonIt is however the perfect location if you like walking! There are lots of great walks around the area and if your children are old enough you can even take on Chanctonbury Ring from there, but if not there are fields and woods surrounding the camping field that you can happily find yourself getting lost in and still be close to home. You might even find yourself at a beautiful little tea shop that is not far from the campsite, which again has lots of ducks and has plenty of room for the children to run around and play in the garden.

This is wild camping with only the most basic of amenities, but if you are looking for a last minute camp (not guaranteed, I always ring!) close to Brighton with beautiful walks and you don’t mind slightly mucky children then this is a great spot for you.
